Frontiers 系列期刊是由教育部主管、高等教育出版社有限公司出版、德国Springer公司负责海外发行的大型英文系列学术期刊，是目前国内覆盖学科最广的系列英文学术期刊，涉及基础科学、生命科学、工程技术和人文社会科学等四个学科领域。系列期刊以网络版和印刷版形式出版，旨在凝聚国内顶级科研力量，建设一个中国品牌的国际化学术交流平台。现由CALIS文理中心与高等教育出版社有限公司共同负责国内数字化内容服务工作。

Frontiers 系列期刊数据库共含28种全英文学术期刊。刊物学术质量和规范化运作在国际上得到较高认可，特别是在环境科学与工程、数学、物理、计算机科学及生命科学等领域，已有期刊陆续被SCI、Ei 或Medline 等国际权威检索机构收录，同时，系列期刊中有15种自然科学类期刊被CSCD（中国科学引文数据库）核心库收录。此外，系列期刊也是国内第一个成规模的英文人文社会科学期刊群。刊物采用在线优先（Online First）出版方式，保证文章以最快速度发表。刊物现逐步缩短刊期，使更多的中国学术文章进入国际视野，以增强中国学者与国际同行的沟通和交流。目前，由CALIS管理中心研制开发系统，面向高校用户提供Frontiers 系列期刊的在线访问服务。
